Forgot to mention that the US Speedskating team (sponsored by the Colbert Report) will be doing time trials throughout the day during our event. Should be plenty to watch in between our own heats. Nothing like watching our country's best prepare for the upcoming Olympic Winter Games. Maybe they'll take up CrossFit for training after they see our beastly performances!
Pay attention ladies and gents because you need to know all of this information!!!!!!!!!
Check-in for the event will start at 8:30 sharp. If you are a competitor plan on showing up then, ideally all of you should be checked in before 9:00am, giving you enough time to warm-up. We will have access to locker rooms for changing, and there is a track and spinning bikes available to warm up on. Nobody will be allowed to warm-up on the concept2 rowers, as this will interfere with us getting everything set-up. REGISTRATION FOR COMPETITORS WILL CLOSE AT 9:15...EVEN IF YOU DON'T START UNTIL 10:30, YOU NEED TO SHOW UP ON TIME FOR REGISTRATION.
Bring Food!!! Most of you will have about a 2 hr. break in between workouts. There is food withing 10 minutes driving from the Oval, but we will not have any food vendors at the venue. Please pack food and clean up after yourselves. Bring cash if you want to go shopping. We'll be selling Fitness Elevated t-shirts for $20 at the event, or 2 for $30. We are also bringing down some sweet women's Ute CrossFit shirts made of bamboo material. All other affiliate owners are welcome to bring some merchandise with them to sell to spectators. This is a community get together, let's all support each other! Lastly FORGED President Mike Sauers and Vice President Ryan Williams will be there all day with a ton of sweet gear. They are the standard for badass crossfit clothing, and super nice guys. Be sure to introduce yourselves and get to know them.
Massages will be provided for athletes, please tip if you appreciate the hard work. Also, Tom from Utah Valley will be bringing his "Inbody 520" machine. It provides a complete body composition analysis including body fat %, lean muscle mass % with intracellular and extra cellular hydration. It also gives segmental lean body mass analysis, showing the amount of lean mass in each of your limbs and your trunk. WOW, I don't know what half that stuff means but it sounds pretty cool and I know I'm gonna try it. Tom is charging $20, and $15 for competitors, so bring your wallet if you are interested!
That pretty much covers it. I've sent e-mails to judges but just in case we're going to meet at 8:45 am for your instructions for the day. Competitors, be sure to tell the judges how much you appreciate what they do. It's not an easy job, but I tried to get the most qualified people for it and I know they will do a wonderful job. They will explain what they expect out of you before each workout, it is up to you to pay attention and follow instruction. Standards WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED! This is the only way to ensure fairness, and a lot of you who plan on doing the Sectional Qualifiers need the experience so you know what to expect.
*****Heat Information*****
The following is information on the First WOD, including starting times of each heat, and names of participants in each heat. I based these on when people signed up for the event, so those who signed up the earliest get the opportunity to watch the competition go before them.
For WOD #2 the first heat will start at 11:30 am sharp! Consecutive heats will run every 10 minutes, WOD #2 will finish at 1pm. You will be in the exact same groups for WOD #2 as you are for WOD #1.
WOD #3 will be seeded. After the first two workouts, we will re-arrange all of the heats. We will try to post those results as quickly as possible, probably around 1:30 pm. The top ranked competitors will go at the very end. First heat of WOD #3 will start at 2pm, with heats starting every 20 minutes. The women will go first, then the men. The final heat will start at 4:30 pm, and winners will be announced around 5pm.
